The act of deriving pleasure from the misfortune of other people, a feeling of pleasure we take in observing or hearing about the misfortunes of others. It is most often used in reference to the misfortunes of others—esp. A new article offers a potential explanation as to why we take pleasure in somebody who observes someone else's misfortune. We all experience schadenfreude, or joy in the Daily Celebrity, NY Times, Daily Mirror. Schadenfreude, or “harm-joy,” is the pleasure derived from the misfortune of others.
